American Acoustic with Punch Brothers- I’m With Her (Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan) and Julian Lage
In 2016, the Kennedy Center invited mandolinist and host of A Prairie Home Companion Chris Thile to curate a weekend that birthed the moniker American Acoustic. The event was a resounding success, leading to this stunning tour. The Washington Post notes, "With enthusiasm and experimentation, Punch Brothers take bluegrass to its next evolutionary stage, drawing equal inspiration from the brain and the heart." The female trio I’m With Her has garnered acclaim for their instrumental interplay and indelible harmonies “…that could be sweetly ethereal, or as tightly in tandem as country sibling teams like the Everly Brothers, or as hearty as mountain gospel.” —The New York Times. Julian Lage has taken the world of jazz guitar by storm. The New York Times hails the “disarming spirit of generosity” in Lage’s music and notes the young guitarist has “roots tangled up in jazz, folk, classical and country music.” This acoustic show feels like it was curated as a perfect match for Chautauqua, with a stop at the Kennedy Center and other national venues along the way.
